CTAD Chinese Clinical Trials Centers Initiative

Advancing Global Collaboration in Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical Research

The CTAD Chinese Clinical Trials Centers Initiative represents a major step forward in building a truly global network of excellence in Alzheimer's Disease clinical research.

Launched during the CTAD 2024 Conference in Madrid, Spain, this initiative is led in partnership with the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China, under the guidance of Professor Jiong Shi and Professor Yong Shen. It aims to integrate China’s top clinical trial centers into an international ecosystem already shaped by the European Alzheimer’s Disease Consortium (EADC) and the U.S.-based Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical Trials Consortium.

Together, these efforts are streamlining the design and execution of therapeutic trials across continents—accelerating innovation and driving global progress.

Our mission

• Connect China’s leading research institutions with international Alzheimer’s networks

• Foster collaboration between academia and industry

• Promote data sharing and infrastructure alignment

• Accelerate therapeutic development through best-in-class clinical trials

The CTAD Chinese network will adopt proven principles and infrastructure from established centers of excellence, ensuring consistency and high standards across all partners.

From CTAD 2024 Madrid to CTAD 2025 San Diego: The China CTAD AWC in Shanghai – A Milestone Event for the CTAD Chinese Clinical Trials Centers Initiative

The upcoming CTAD Alzheimer’s Workshop China (AWC), scheduled to take place in Shanghai in September 2025, marks a major milestone in the evolution of the CTAD Chinese Clinical Trials Centers Initiative. It will provide a critical opportunity for member centers to present ongoing clinical and translational research, demonstrate operational readiness, and engage in strategic dialogue with pharmaceutical companies and global leaders in Alzheimer’s Disease clinical trials.

Building on the energy and momentum generated at the inaugural meeting during CTAD 2024 in Madrid, the Shanghai workshop will set the stage for the next phase of network development and integration. It will also help lay the groundwork for the joint global roundtable to be held at CTAD 2025 in San Diego, where the formal presentation of the CTAD Chinese Clinical Trials Centers Network will take place.

This Shanghai milestone reinforces our shared commitment to a unified global effort in accelerating Alzheimer’s Disease research and therapeutic development.
